Joe Edward Hankins was born in Cushing, Oklahoma on April 10, 1930 and departed this life at his home in Kendrick, Oklahoma on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at the age of 79 years.
Joe was the son of Joe Matt and Mabel Pauline (Anderson) Hankins. He married Betty James on January 14, 1951 in Napa, California. Joe worked as a painter at Mare Island, Vallejo, CA then went to work for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority where he retired. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stroud and enjoyed working in his woodshop. Joe was a volunteer fireman with the Kendrick Fire Department and flew an American flag at his home everyday. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and one great grand grandson. Survivors include, Wife, Betty Hankins of the home, Two sons & daughters-in-laws, Edward & Beth Hankins of Harrah, OK, Jeffery & Vicky Hankins of Stroud, OK, Three daughters & Sons- in- law: Beverly & Bill Ash of Stroud, OK, Beth & Kelly Galbraith of Chandler,OK, Michelle & Chris Haskin of Stroud, OK, Two Brothers, Ronald Hankins of Garland, TX, Thomas Hankins of Stillwater, OK, 10 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, Others relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Stroud, Oklahoma on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Dr. Burl E. Mackey officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud, Oklahoma.
