| Obituary: |
Edith L. Cody, age 87, formerly of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away after an extended illness on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at her home in Quail Ridge Assisted Living Center, where she resided for over 5 years. Edith was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on March 28, 1922, to Earl M. Turner & Beatrice (Flippin) Turner, her parents, who preceded her in death.
Her husband of 46 years, Robert G. Cody, an insurance executive and her son, Earl W. Cody also preceded her in death.
Edith, a homemaker and mother of three, is survived by her daughter, Barbara L. Hensley and son-in-law, Donald E. Hensley of Oklahoma City; daughter-in-law, Jenny L. Cody of Edmond; and son, R. Michael Cody and daughter-in-law, Nancy L. Cody of Edmond. Edith is also survived by her seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. While in Tulsa, Edith was very involved in league bowling and golf where she was noted for making a hole-in-one. Although Edith was a very quiet and reserved person, she would say her most noted accomplishment, which brought her much happiness, was being a wife, mother and grandmother. Although Edith struggled with COPD for approximately 5 years, her passing was very peaceful, which is a tribute to her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
Services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at the Church of the Servant, Chapel of the Cross, Oklahoma City, OK, with Rev. Tim Travis officiating.
